Peanut Butter Paws Rescue, Inc. was founded in 2023 with the primary goal of rescuing neglected, abandoned, and abused animals and providing a safe haven for them where they can be medically treated, rehabilitated, and then placed into loving, furever homes.
We love what we do and the furbabies in our care! We are an all-volunteer, foster based, 501(c)(3) charitable rescue. We do not have a physical shelter or store front location. All of our dogs are fostered in private homes where they can begin to heal and receive basic training while they wait for their furever families to adopt them. Donations are tax deductible and allow us to rescue and care for each dog we take in by providing them with food, supplies, training, transportation, and veterinary care.
Peanut Butter Paws envisions a world where companion animals are no longer homeless, starving, abused, or suffering and where they may experience love, happiness, a full belly, a soft bed, and a loving family. In this ideal world, rescues like ours will no longer need to exist. We believe that with the evolution of humanity and awareness, this can happen.
The goal of Peanut Butter Paws is to serve the animals of our community and outlying areas who are victims of abuse, neglect, and who have been orphaned. We strive to place those in our care into loving, furever homes where they will know unconditional love, perhaps for the first time, but definitely for the rest of their lives.
Peanut Butter Paws' greatest job is to complete happy families. Through a fantastic adoption, we hope that our adopters will feel that their adopted furbaby saved them - just as much as they saved their furbaby. Adopting your dog through rescue allows us to go right back to the shelter and save another dog in its place, so by adopting, you are actually saving TWO lives!
Adoptions of any Peanut Butter Paws puppies provides us with additional funding to go out and rescue a medical dog who may need hundreds or thousands of dollars in treatment to reach an adoptable state. Our puppies fund our seniors and medical dogs.
Along the way, we hope to not only educate the public about the plight of the shelter dog, pet overpopulation, and compassion for all creatures, but also to inspire this fabulous community to join us in putting an end to animal abuse and pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering your pets.
Peanut Butter Paws is a female-run, non-profit organization founded by a mother/twin daughter team. We are vegans who support compassion and commitment to all the animals both in our care, and in the wild. We are building our team of dedicated fosters, volunteers, and experts. If you would like to become a part of our Team, please contact us at: volunteer@peanutbutterpaws.org or visit our volunteer page on the website to fill out an application to help us, help them.
Stanley was rescued from East Valley shelter by Tiny Loving Canines (TLC) rescue out of Simi Valley, CA in 2010 after his owner passed away. No one in the family wanted him so they dumped him in a kill shelter. Their loss, our gain! TLC swooped in to save him and as a volunteer of TLC, I was asked to be his foster. At over 10 years old and grieving the loss of his person, he was very thin, with horrific teeth, the longest tongue in the West, not eating and needed a lot more individual care to pull through. It didn't take long for us to fall in love and Stanley became the 'Canine LOVE of my Life!' He was my first 'foster fail' and lived for four more amazing years by my side. After he passed, in his memory, I began networking shelter dogs on Facebook under 'Saving Lives with Stanley', knowing someday I wanted to start a rescue in his honor.
Peanut Butter Paws is Stanley's legacy. The dogs we rescue in his program (SLWS) are seniors or medical dogs that need that extra 'TLC' and financial funding to get the care they require and deserve to live their happiest lives yet. We get them to an adoptable state and into amazing homes. Those who can't quite make it to an adoptable state will remain under the care of one of our loving fospice families where they will be pampered and loved for the rest of their lives. Our SLWS dogs are the ones who are dearest to our hearts and to Stanley's spirit!
Our Foster to Adopt program was inspired by TLC Rescue which operated in Simi Valley years ago. The basis of this program involves a 10 day trial period to make sure it is a good fit for both your new dog, and your entire family, including the other pets in your home.
If you are not 100% happy with the placement, or if any issues arise during this time period, Peanut Butter Paws will take the pup back and your adoption donation will be fully refunded. Alternatively, if you have fallen in love with your new dog and everyone is getting along well and you wish to make it permanent, the adoption is finalized and you all live happily ever after!
We wish to make sure each animal that comes through our rescue is unconditionally loved and will receive the best care as an involved, cherished member of your family. The Foster-to-Adopt program helps ensure an excellent placement in a loving home and a happy family, as a result!
Peanut Butter Paws recognizes that many people want to help, but they can't commit to long term fostering. Maybe they have one month, two weeks, or even just one weekend available, but they would still like to make a difference in the life of one of these furbabies. We have opportunities to do just that! Field trips, weekend flings, and sleep-overs are just some of the fun ways to share your time and love to an available rescue dog in need.
